Concerto with James Conlon ($29.98)

Enjoy all six half-hour episodes of the 2002 "Concerto" series, featuring Conductor James Conlon and each of the six finalists of the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. In this six-episode 2006 series, Maestro James Conlon explores the relationship between the concert pianist's internal world and the composer's score - with the finalists of the Twelfth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition as his examples - and examines what makes one interpretation so different from another. You'll see the competition's finalists in solo performances, as well as chamber performances with the Grammy Award-winning Takács Quartet.

"For a Deaf Son," produced by Rob Tranchin - the father of a deaf son - offers an intimate look at the decisions that must be made by parents when a deaf child is born into a hearing family. The documentary features a touching selection of home videos taped by the Tranchins before and after they learned that their son, Thomas, was deaf, as well as interviews with deafness experts. The result is an unprecedented and intimate look at a situation faced every year by thousands of families.

Through the lens of journalists working in Dallas in 1963, audiences will learn about the moment-by-moment experiences of those who covered one of the most significant events in U.S. history. Three years in the making and shot entirely in high definition, this compelling one-hour film captures the story of the extraordinary design and construction of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the second largest modern art museum in the U.S. Beginning with the awarding of the design bid to the visionary Japanese modernist Tadao Ando, the program follows the architect's struggle to translate his Eastern-influenced designs to this most Western of towns. 60 minutes; premiered in 2003.

Sweet Tornado: Margo Jones and the American Theater ($21.95)

"Sweet Tornado: Margo Jones and the American Theater" tells her story - starring Judith Ivey as the dynamic and idealistic director from Texas and Richard Thomas as Tennessee Williams, whose early career she championed. The one-hour, high definition film is narrated by Marcia Gay Harden, and premiered on public stations nationally in March and April 2006.

Twelfth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition: In the Heart of Music ($29.95)

French filmmaker Andy Sommer gives you an up-close examination of the Twelfth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the competitors' experiences from the screening process through the 17-day competition. He got to know almost all of the 35 competitors, probing what he describes as "the best and rarest moments of the pianists' search for truth," revealing their inner world of emotions, sacrifices, and motivations. Premiered in 2005.

North Texas has one of the liveliest music scenes in the country, and KERA 90.1 FM helped to shaped this image by supporting local artists. KERA 90.1 Sound Sessions CD is a compilation of songs recorded for KERA 90.1 by local favorites including Sara Hickman and others.

Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition: Stanislav Ioudenitch, Gold Medalist ($17.98)

At the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Stanislav Ioudenitch was named one of two winners of the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Gold Medal. He was also awarded a Steven De Groote Memorial Award for Best Performance of Chamber Music. Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition: Olga Kern, Gold Medalist ($17.98)

At the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Olga Kern was named one of two winners of the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Gold Medal, becoming the first woman gold medalist for the Cliburn Competition since 1969. This CD, recorded in concert at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, captures the performances that won her this distinction.
